- La Romana / Bayahibe. South coast, reef-protected water, less sargassum exposure than the east-facing beaches. Secrets La Romana is the adults-only entry; Casa de Campo (European plan) is the luxury option if AI isn't a hard requirement.

If you want strict couples-grade enforcement: the Excellence Group properties (Excellence Punta Cana and Excellence El Carmen) run the tightest 18+ policy in the country. Not couples-only the way Beloved is in Mexico, but the closest equivalent.

The honest gap
The biggest pitfall in DR adults-only AI is the Punta Cana mega-resort marketed as adults-only that doesn't deliver actual quiet at scale. Multiple 800-to-1,200-room properties on the Bavaro strip carry "adults-only" branding, and "no children" doesn't translate to "calm" when you're sharing the resort with 1,500 other guests. Weigh score over brand recognition, prefer properties under 500 rooms when boutique-feel matters, and read recent reviews for renovation vintage — the gap between a five-year and fifteen-year-old room at the same brand in this country can be enormous.
