JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar

What it is.
Iberostar's higher-tier sub-brand, and the brand's best argument that it can hold a luxury price point. JOIA Paraiso runs 360 suites in Playa Paraiso (a quieter slice of the Riviera Maya), an adults-only policy, and a 95.7 score at $6,187 a week — a meaningful step up from the standard Iberostar Selection product without clearing the Grand Velas or Excellence Group premium.
The positioning is the test. Iberostar's mainstream properties are competent mass-market AI; JOIA is the brand's claim to compete with Karisma's El Dorado and AMResorts' Secrets in the adults-only mid-luxury tier. The kitchen and service do step up materially. The trade-off is the brand association — travelers shopping by reputation will compare it to the Iberostar properties they've been to, which sets the wrong expectation.
What you're paying for: a mid-luxury adults-only on a quieter Riviera Maya beach at a price that beats the equivalent Karisma or Excellence Group properties by a thousand dollars a week. For travelers who didn't know JOIA existed and would otherwise default to a more expensive recognized name, this is the value play. For brand-loyal Iberostar mainstream guests, the step up is real.
